  1. Many people will not cut a tree or take anything away from a fort in case they would offend the fairies.
    A tree that is seen standing alone without leaves is thought to be a fairy tree and if anyone interferes with it he will become lame.
    It is not right to throw out water out of the house after dark in case one would drown the fairies.
    It is unlucky to sweep the dust out of a house as one might dirty the fairies clothes that are spread to dry.
    Old people believe the ghosts and fairies come out on Halloween night to destroy the blackberries and they would not eat a blackberry after that.
