  1. In this townloand long ago there was a very small man who used to give a terrible deal of trouble. It is said that he came in the shape of a candle to Brackarybeg and in the shape of a small horse. He used to come at all hours of the night and boo like a cow. All the people would come out of bed and run to all the byres. One night he led out Marin Gaffery's cows. He came and started to boo like a cow. Martin got up and ran out to the byre. All the cows were at the byre door. Then he put them in and he was not right in beol[?] until he started roaring like a cow again. he had poor Martin ran off his feet the whole night. The same night he was at John Keaveny's. He was above in the chimney and was pegging potatoes through the house. When John Keaveny got up in the morning
