  1. Long ago the people of Ballintrillick had to go to Lissadel to do some work such as trying corn. They had to do this journey on foot which was a distance of about eight miles. They brought their dinner with them at first, but after a while they got their food in Lissadel. While they worked a man from there worked with them and each of them had to do as much work as that man. The dinner consisted of a farrel of bread; that is a cake was cut into four parts and each one got a farrel.
