  1. One local patron Saint is St. Mogue or Aiden. He was a Saint who lived during the sixth century. He had his Abbey at Rossinver. St. Mogue came originally from Ferms in Co. Wexford.
One night this holy man had a dream or vision, an angle appeared to him and told him to go to a place called Rossinver and to found a church there. St. Mogue went to St. Columcille to get advice what to do. So. Columcille told him to go to Rossinver. St. Mogue had great difficulty to find Rossinver, but he had great patience and he found, and in due course he established his abbey there.
It is said that one night St. Mogue ordered that no person was to appear out of doors at a certain time that night, as the angels were going to build one of the walls of the Abbey on conditions that no person as to look at them. At this particular time when no person was to appear out of doors, a woman made an excuse to goo for water. The angels seeing her disappeared.
