  1. Once upon a time there lived a very poor man who had three sons. One day he said to them, that they should go out and try to make a (livig) living. The three sons then set out and each of them went a different direction. One of them soon found a man looking for a servant, and he engaged him as his servant. The second found a purse full of gold on his way. The third travelled a long way and after some he met a cat carrying a big hare. The boy feeling hungry, asked the cat to have the hare cooked. They then went into the first house they met and did so. When they came out the cat told the boy that there was a king in that part of the country and he had a great Castle. Every one who visited there was killed by the king. They both went to the king whom they found sitting by his fire. The cat said, "I can turn myself into a rat, a mouse, and all the animals of the earth." Very well said the (cat) king, "I can do the same." Well." said the cat, can you turn yourself
