    There is a stone bridge in Earls Island, near the jail. This is the story of how it got its name. Long ago when Galway was a large fort there was a merchant going down to the docks. He had a large sum of money in his possession and two men, who knew of the money followed him. He ran up through the town again and out along by the Salmon Weir Bridge closely followed by
