    Large fairs were held at Fairhill every September and this is how the place got its name.

    in others all kinds of alcoholic drinks were sold.
    A long time ago the Swamp which is now called South Park was covered over with water. The sons of the fishermen used make models of sailing-boats and spent their time sailing them there. During the herring season large shoals of these fish used come in to the Swamp and were caught there.
    In the middle of the Swamp there was a very large rock called the "Cloch Riaghain" and this was supposed to be haunted. No matter how high the tide arose this rock was never covered.
    Near the beach there was a hill called "the Green Hill"
