Their was once a boy from Dunmore and he had a job in Galway. He got sacked and he went to look for another job. He went into a shop and he asked the shop-boy did he know any place that he could get a job. He told him that he knew a man and that he was looking for a servant boy. That man lived about a quarter of a mile. The boy came out of the shop and he never stopped until he came to this house. He was just going in the lawn and he met another boy coming out and he was all blood. The one that was going in asked him what was wrong with him. He told him that the first day he got work from that man he made a bargain and this was the bargain. He told him that he would give him £26 the day that the cuckoo would be heard and that which ever one of them would get vexed his ear would be cut off. He was just
