  1. The village of Dangan got its name from two forts in which two kings were living. It has a large number of Townlands ie-
    Dangan Slieb Gorm, Dangan beag, Dangan uactar, Dangan Iacrar and potta Dubha.
    Dangan Slieb gorm - The number of houses presently in it are nine. There was fifteen before the famine and disappeared with the famine clearance.
    Dangan beag has eleven houses ant thirty six before the famine.
    Dangan Iacrar has nine houses now and it had twenty before the famine.
    Dangan Uactar has thirteen houses and it had twewnty before the famine. There is only four houses in Polla Dubha and there was eight before the famine.
    All houses in Slieb gorm are thatched but two.
