“There was once a man and he had three sons.”
There was once a man and he had three sons. His way of living was selling heath. Every day he used to have his sons out cutting it. One day they caught a little bird as they were cutting the heath. They put him in a cage. Next morning when they awoke, the bird had a golden egg laid, and their father brought the egg to the town and sold it. The egg was worth three pounds, and in three days the bird had three eggs laid. Then the jeweller that was buying them told the seller to bring in the bird and he would buy him. He did so and when the jeweller caught the little he saw that under one of the bird's wings(continues on next page)
