- There was once a miller living in a place called "Kernborn". One day he saw a fish giving a jump in the water behind his mill. He had a roll of barred wire in his hand, and he put out the wire to hit the fish. The fish immediately said "don't hit me for I'm not a fish, I'm a lady," I'm held as a captive here for three hundred years by some enchantment." The miller said "Is there anything that could release you." She replied, "If you sleep for three nights in yonder deserted castle, I shall be freed from my captivity.(continues on next page)
