  1. There was a woman rowing a boat on Cartharn lake. There was a man standing on the bank. He saw the head of a horse appearing over the water. The monster looked at the man, and he shouted at the woman to row quickly out of the lake. She looked back and saw the monster but he had seen her first, and followed her. She landed on the shore and the lake horse disappeared again below the water. The woman died before a year had passed.
