There was a man living in Renvyle and his name was Salmon. One night he was going down to the shore cutting rack.
He was going down an old road behind the Renvyle Hotel when he heard the man talking and heard noise like as if they were cutting wood. He thought it was some of the other lads that were going down before him. When he went on another bit a he saw a horse and cart and there was a load of timber in the cart. He went on another bit and he met another horse and cart.
He went on until he came to the wood and he couldn't see anybody in the wood.
When he found out that there was nobody in the wood he got very frightened. When he went ot he wood next morning all the trees were beggining to wither.
