  1. A fine strapping man Diarmuid was. He was afraid of nothing. He was as happy travelling by night as by day. In Connemara he lived. One November Eve he was out visiting in a neighbouring house as usual. The young people had lot of fun and it was late when Diarmuid was going home. As he was coming near his home about midnight he saw a big crowd of people on the road in front of him and nearing towards home they were carrying a corpse. They did not frighten Diarmuid though he had heard at the visiting house that a young woman had died in the neighbouring parish the previous evening when the procession saw him they left the corpse on the road and vanished. It was the Sluarg Side that was in it.
    Diarmuid went up to the corpse he looked at it and what did he see but a fine young lady. He left his hand on her forehead and found it was warm. Then he understood that it was a young girl the fairies had stolen from her parents and he made up his mind that he would not allow them take her away. So he brought
