wife after doing all she could for her poor boy, left him in the care of a neighbour, and went to the cemetery near by where there is a blessed well called St. Flannan's well. On reciting some prayers for her boys recovery she looked down into the well and wailed to see if anything move within, but all she saw was a small bit of wood the shape of a coffin lying at the bottom of the well, by getting this sign she knew her boy would die. Next day Martin died despite all medical aid.
