    It is said that Brian Boru came to Ard Oileán to St. Gorm Gall patron St. of Ard Oileán before the Battle of Clontarf to get confession and that the water of the blessed well there turned to blood after Brian Boru was killed. The jumpers dug a drain from the well but the water would not move.
