    It is said that there is a pot of gold buried under a tree in Claddaghduff ...

    It is said that there is a pot of gold buried under a tree in Claddaghduff and that there is a serpent twisted around it. One time people from Renvyle Castle (?) and a priest came to dig it up. They were digging the pavement when the priest told them to withdraw that he saw the serpent coming towards them and they closed it up again and it was never dug up since.
