  1. One time ther lived in the district of Clifden a man. One day as he was going up a little road near Creg he saw a little black thorn tree and he (way) was breaking a bit of it when a thorn went in his hand and he died in two a time. Then a man went cutting it and a voice said "You are cutting me, and he left it alone, but in a year he died. Three men went to finish it and it began to bleed. They left it alone but some evil befell them. No one went near it except an old cow who got a cut of it and died. there is a bridge somewhere there too and one
