  1. A story in connection with Derry Donnell Castle.
    Derry Donnell castle was built by the Clann Richards and they lived there for some years. It got its name from Aodh Ó Domhnaill who spent a night there when he was going to attack Athenry.
    The Clann Richards had a great sum of money left there in a hiding place and Edward French knew where it was. One day he and others decided to take it and so they did. When the Clann Richards wanted it to pay some debt that was on them they found it was not there. By some means of enquiries they got to know who had taken it and they tried to take it from him but he had left this country. Nobody knew where it was because he had hidden it in a field in Clorane over which he had placed a rock as a mask.
