  1. There is only one holy well in the parish. It is in the south of Athenry three or four hundred yards from the Old Wall.
    There is a pilgrimage there every year when people from Connemara, Galway, Tuam and other places come, (every year) on the fifteenth of August. There are rounds performed there. The people begin the Rosary and then they go round saying a mystery each time. They go round fifteen time. Then they finish the
