    owner could find of him was the halter, and it was after that the village is so called.
    There are two old people over seventy in my townland, who are getting the old age pension, but they do not know Irish but they can tell stories in English.
    Mr. Simon Comer, Pollaneyster, Williamstown was a school teacher and knows Irish and he can tell stories in Irish also.
    In former times the houses in my village were more numerous than they are presently. There are three of them in ruins, and in one of them two boys and their father lived and the father died, and his sons had no money to bury him, and an old man named James Flanegan who lived near them gave them money and they gave him their little piece of land and they emigrated to America.
    The land is level and fairly good and all the crops grow well in it.
