    in this locality as late as the 8th July in 1934. The corncrake from early in April till late August. It is said by some people that the corncrake lies on his back when carrying out his shrill craking. The swallow visits us from early April till late September. The Woodcock from October till end of March. The Wild Geese from October till end of April. The crow, crane, magpie, rook, wild pigeon and gold finch build their nests on trees. The five first mentioned build their nests of sticks, feathers, hair and moss, and the gold finch builds his little nest of moss, hair and feathers, on a horizontal branch of the palm tree. A jackdaw builds generally in chimneys of houses, he build of sticks, pieces of turf, hair and feathers and wool. The curlew and gull build their nests of dry grass on the flat surface of inaccessible bogs. The waterhen and swam build their nests of dry grass in small islands in lakes and bogholes. If boys rob birds nests they are told that if the bird curses them they will have no luck, also if they rob a magpies nest the magpie would come and steal all the young chickens. We can know the approaching weather by what the birds do. If the robin stands on the threshold of the door bad weather is at hand. If the rooks are flying irregularly and
