There was not much work that time. The men had to work making porshes. The people had to dig the ground with spades and shovels. In famine time there was no ploughs only spades and shovels. Then when the men used to go working the women had to do the men's work. They had to dig the ground instead of ploughing. The men had to work very hard to make a living.
