    make them into roads. Some of the roads of this district were made recently. The new Line was made about twenty years ago.
    Men and sometimes women worked on these roads. The times were very bad and they very often went hungry to their work. They got very poor wages. They got twopence and threepence a day. There is a road in this district called "Bóthar ?" There is a whitethorn bush growing at the head of the road. It is from this bush that the road gets its name. This road is supposed to be haunted by fairies.
    One dark night there was a man passing by this road. He was going to the fair of Dunmore. He heard a noise. When he looked he saw two fairies dressed
