    the kitchen. It used to be almost out on the hearth. There was no arch in the chimney. There was only one door in the houses long ago. There used to be half-doors in the houses also. The floors of the houses were not made with cement or boards but with dóib buidhe or mortar. The mortar floors used to be very rough and course.
    They used not have any lamps in their houses long ago. They used to have bog-deal and candles.
