  1. There was a man going to a fair once. He had to cross a rath and it was night when he was crossing. the people used to say that if you passed by that rath at night you would see the fairies. When Pat was crossing the rath he saw three men carrying a coffin. Pat was the man's name. Pat took the coffin from them. He opened it and he saw a beautiful girl in it. She opened her eyes when he took the lid off. Pat brought her home but she was not able to speak. She could knit and sow better than anyother in the country. Pat was crossing by the rath another night. He heard the fairies talking. One of them said " We behaved bad not to keep her". "No" said another "she will not be able to speak
