  1. Local Cures
    In former times the people had several cures of their own for common ailments, while certain people had powers of healing denied to other.
    For instance the seventh son or daughter in a family was called the doctor, and had cures for various disease.
    A child who never saw its father had a cure for sore eyes and mouth.
    others had cures which were charms and which they inherited from their parents.
