Young men and young maidins, I pray lend an ear

    I
    Young men and young maidens
    I pray lend an ear,
    To hear the sad fate
    Of two lovers so dear
    Concerning young Betsy
    of Ballintownbray
And the lord of the moorland
    Who led her astray.
    II
One night as this young lord
    Lay down for to sleep
    Young Betsy came to him
    And o'er him did weep
Saying you are the young lord
    Who caused me to roam
    Far away from my friends
    And my own native home.
