  1. The Landlords
    The local landlord for his district was James O'Hara Trench and he lived at Clonfort. The landlords were looked upon as bad landlords. The people were in the district for about a hundred years or more. There was evictions, and those who were evicted went to America. The landlords got possession of the land after the battle of Aughrim.
    The land was divided into farms about nine or ten Irish acres in each. The landlord did not use any special power over his tenants but the Agents did. He used to make them cut the turf, save it and bring it
