  1. Saint Dympna is the patron saint of the parish of Kilnadeema. She was the daughter of a pagan Irish Chieftain who lived in Kerry. On the death of her mother who was a very pious Christian this unholy man wished to marry his own child.
    St Dympna with aid of a saintly old priest named Gerebern found their way to Antwerp and hid themselves in a little village near Gheel. Her father followed her and searched everywhere for her until he found her and dragging her and her faithful friend to Gheel they weres put to death at a spot which can today to a curious vistor.
    Kilnadeema is the church of St Dympna and the parish are consecrated to St Dympna. St. Dympna well is situated about a quarter of a mile from Kilnadeema Church and is piously visited every year on her Feast day May 15th. Many cures are attributed to her intercession.
