  1. One day the Friars were saving hay down by the Shannon they had four acres of callow. Several farmers were also in the callow saving their own hay. The day was threatening rain. One of the farmers said to one of the Friars. "Sure if you like you can keep the rain off your hay". The Friar answered. If that be the case let every man mind his own. Shortly after the rain came down in torrents but not a drop fell on the Friar's hay. The meaning the people took
