  1. One day there was a motor-car with a couple of people going to Kilkenny. The bridge happened to be opened as the car came near it. The red flag was out and the chain was across the road. Evidently the driver did not see the chain for he drove right through it. Fortunately they landed on dry land below. The car was going so fast that it landed on its four wheels. The occupants were taken from the car unhurt.
    If they had been going slow, they would all have been killed, because the car would have toppled over.
    Afterwards the driver was brought to court for driving too fast.
