    Laurence Mahon of Gragagowan, [?]. Portumna still living (June 1931) gave me the following information
    He went to a pedagogue or hedge-school master named Patsy Cunningham, one hand and lame. This man had a school in the village of Gragakellem, between Tom Scotts' present House and New Line Road. Had a another school at [?] in Tom Scully's Barn.
    This teacher used sleep in the houses of those attending school.
    For support, fed by parents of pupils, supplemented by what was locally called Benefit-Balls.
    Had another school house near John Fahy's present land. Gurteenpadder It was built by parents of pupils,
