    Old Schools
    In what is now known as Carr's old house a hedge school was carried on. Six or seven persons attended, paid the teacher a few pence each week, when cash not available eggs, meal, etc., were given.
    A similar school was held in what is now known as Darby Madden's old house.
    A spelling book was the principal book in use. Writing was taught on slates.
