  1. Severe Weather.
    In the year 1894 or 5 a great snow fall occurred. Snow fell to a depth of three feet. It drifted; people had the greatest difficulty in opening their doors and making passages from their dwellings. Numbers of cattle and sheep were lost. Road traffic was completely suspended for several weeks. No letters were delivered for several weeks. Birds died in hundreds and became so tame that they were caught by hand and for several years afterwards blackbirds and thrushes were noticeably scarce,
