  1. The "Old Abbey" was in Ireland's Golden Age the home of monks - a branch house of the great monastery of Clonfert. Clonfert and the Old Abbey is connected by a tunnel which was supposed to have been cut in the Penal Days. A chain of keys is supposed to represent the number of Abbots in Clonfert and the Old Abbey combined.
    Lisanacody is also connected to Redmount by a tunnel in which the Catholics of the district used to hear Mass during the Penal Days. One old woman used to reside there and
