- There are not fairy forts in this district at the present day. Long ago fairies lived in Lissinard about one mile from this place. Faries are supposed to be seen there at night. The faries lived in a rath are in a "Liss" The raths are to be seen in places where the faries lived long ago. There are often lights in Lissinard at night. it is said that a man was ploughing in a field where the faries lived long ago. When the horses came to the rath where the faries were the horses stopped and would not pass. The man had to return again. There is also a place called "Teach-Áine" about two miles from here called after an old woman by the name of "Áine". She lived by herself in a little house. She cursed a good many people around that place. She told "Lord Riverston" that he would die without a priest. After that he kept a priest in the house with him. One day he was out driving in his carriage he fell out and broke his neck. There is another place called Lisduff. There are still old ruins of it to be seen. The people around used to believe that the faries cattle used to be in their fields along with their own cattle but they couldent see them. This old ruin was built with stone and bushes.
