  1. 1, The Ballygown evictions on the Lewis' estate were in 1886 exorbitant and the tenants asked for a reduction of five shilling in the £, an offer which the land lord refused.
    2. The tenants joined the plan of campaign and meant to fight to a finish.
    The tenants were unable to pay and the land lords would make no settlement but demand the rent in full. Hence the evictions followed.
