  1. 1. Here in Abbey there is a very ancient monastery from which our village takes its name. It is now the burial ground for the parish and some of the surrounding parishes as well.
    2. In the olden days it was the custom to collect all the bones. While making graves they used to put them into one house which is a part of the old ruin. They used to set aside for the purpose. One night to the astonishment of all the people the bones disappeared. The bones were never put in there again.
    3. The old ruins are there yet. The Monks used to live there about two hundred years ago.
