  1. 1. There was a monastery in Abbey till about a hundred years ago. The monks used to teach there. There are only the ruins there now.
    2. The monks were driven out of it one time by the English. They used to hide up in Marblehill wood.
    3. Thye names of the monks that used to teach there were, Carthusians, The Knights of Saint John, and Franciscan's. There was another school in Abbey also.
    4. It is a dwelling house now for a family named Lynch's. There were three teachers in it. There names were Mr and Mrs Whelan and Miss Donnelly.
