  1. 1. there was once a school held beyond in Peter Sullivan's barn in Kylemore. The name of the teacher who taught in it was Mr. Clarke. The children who went to school in those days had to sit on stones.
    2. The next place the school was held was in Tom Larkin's barn. At that time the teachers were getting no government pay only whatever their pupils brought them.
    3. Then they built a school in Abbey which is now the dwelling place of Tom Lynch and his family. The teachers who taught in this old school were:- Mr. and Mrs Whelan and Miss Donnelly. The scholars left
