  1. 1. There is an old school in our village. It is about a hundred years old. The teachers that were in it were Mr Whelan and Mrs Whelan. Miss Donnelly was teaching after the Whelans.
    2. There was another old school in Jim Kellys land in Abbeyville. That is much older than the one in Abbey. There is no sign of it now as all the walls are knocked to the ground.
    3. There is another one as you go into Abbey. It is in Frank Abbertons field joining the graveyard. It was a monastery long ago.
    4. There was another school in Lackin. It was St Feichin who built that school. It was also himself who taught in it. It is about fourteen hundred years ago long before the monastery was established in Abbey.
