- The name of my townland is Curra. There are eight families and about forty people in it. Conway is the most common name in the locality. There are two slated houses in it, all the rest are thatched. The townland got its name from a Church-yard called Killcurragh. Long ago there were more houses than there are now but they are knocked down. There are no ruins of houses in the townland to be seen now.There is one old woman in the townland. She is about ninety years of age. Her name is Mrs Conway, Curra, Kylebrack, Loughrea,(continues on next page)
