Martin McDonagh was a strong man. He lives in Ballinasock, in the parish of Ballynakill. He could carry twenty stone of potatoes up a ladder. Hugh Martin who lives in Lisheeny in the parish of Ballinakill was a great jumper, and a great runner also. James Broderick was another great man. He lived in Lisheeny in the parish of Ballinakill. One day he was going across a field when a bull followed him. He had an axe in his hand and he hit the bull with the axe and killed him. The police followed him but they could not catch him. He ran fifty miles. Martin Leahy who lived in the townland of Kylebrack in the parish of Ballinakill, Leitrim, was a very strong man. He carried twenty stone of potatoes a mile and a half. He only took one rest. He brought the potatoes from Tom Brehony. Tom Brehony said he would give him the potatoes for nothing.
