People never give away milk on May Day.

People do not give flour or salt to anyone on May Day.
People put a branch of white-thorn bush in their crops so that the luck of them would not be brought.
Most people leave their doors unlocked on Christmas Eve night for the Blessed Virgin to come into the house.
