  1. Coole house was the residence of the late Lady Gregory. When Sir William Gregory died there was no one in Coole to take care of the orchard. A man in the neighbourhood went down one night with a bag to get some apples. He filled his bag and left it on the wall. Every time he left it on the wall it was thrown down.
This went on for a long time. He did not know who was throwing back the apples, but he thought it was Sir William. The man said "fan annsin anois Éamonn a diabhal agus fanfaidh mé anseo go maidin".
