- Long ago there were bad roads in Ireland and it was very hard to travel long distances. The roads were constructed beside rivers because they always run in level land.
People travelled long distances by foot, horseback, mail coach and stage coach. When going along distance people nearly always went on horse back and after a few hours travelling they would get a relay of horses until they would reach the place. Then they would do the same coming back again. The people who lived in country towns were often very hungry and used have to wait a long time until the(continues on next page)- Collector
