    On Christmas Eve the man of the house puts a hole in the middle of the turnip. He then puts the candle into the candle-stick.
    Children also make tops from thread spools. They get an empty spool and they shape the top of it with a knife. When this is done they get a coffin-nail and they drive it into the top of the spool. They then spin the top and they strike it with a whip. There are many other useful things which children make especially in Summer.
