    on cattle. The custom is paid to the man to whom the field belongs.
    When a man sells a beast he gives back a luck-penny to the buyer. About five-shillings is given as luck money on cattle. When men come to an agreement on the bargain they strike one another's hands.
    An animal when sold is marked with raddle. Sometimes the buyer cuts his initials on the animals side or marks the horn with a hot iron.
    The fair held in Athleague in September is one of the greatest lamb and horse fairs in Ireland
