There was a spree once in Killaghmore. Some of the neighbours were invited and more of them were not. Those who were not invited went and were not let in so they made up a song about the dance and those who attended it.
The song is as follows:

It was on the twentieth of January
The night being cold and wet.
There was a spree in Killaghmore
Which the neighbours won't forget.
There was a grand selection
I mean to let you know
All the swanks around Kilconnell
